Chinese Accountants Association

Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA society of Chinese Accountants) is called CICPA, it is China mainland’s CPA organization. The Institute was founded on November 15, 1988, and on June 19, 1995, CICPA merged with China Registered Auditors Association. And after the merger, it is still known as Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

In October 1996, CICPA joined the Asia Pacific Federation of Accountants, and in May 1997 it participated in the International Federation of Accountants. As of October 31, 2012, the CICPA had group members (CPA firms) of 8,062, among them, there were 47 firms qualified to handle securities and futures business. And, individual memberships were up to nearly 200,000 people. Among them, CPAs had nearly 100,000 people, and 684 persons were senior members, honorary memberships belonged to 17 people. The Certified Public Accountants firms provide services to more than 3,500,000 enterprises.

The highest authority of the Institute is the National Congress, which elected the council. The Council elected president, vice president of the Council and the Standing Council. Several special committees and professional committees were elected by the Council. The Standing Council exercises authority when the Council is not in session. Under the Institute, there is a secretariat, which is its permanent actuator.

CICPA has practising members and non practicing members. Practicing members are divided into CPA individual members and CPA firms (group members).
